Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan believes that his country does not need guarantees from third parties to conclude a peace agreement with Azerbaijan.
„After the incident in September 2022 (b.r. the clashes on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border) should we still take the institution of guarantors seriously? I say that there is one guarantor of Armenia's security – Armenia itself, which is capable of living in the region among its neighbors without external assistance, without external interference“, said the head of the Armenian government, answering a journalist's question.
On March 13, the Armenian Foreign Ministry announced that Yerevan and Baku had agreed on the text of the peace agreement and had completed the negotiation process. Yerevan explained that it is awaiting proposals from Baku regarding the place and date of signing the document. The main opposition political forces in Armenia have called this agreement a "capitulation of the Pashinyan regime". Armenia and Azerbaijan have not yet published an agreed version of the document.
