NATO chief: Donald Trump will not suddenly withdraw US troops from Europe - 1

The US has no intention of suddenly withdrawing its military presence in Europe, despite its demands that European countries take care of their own defense. This was assured by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, quoted by "Reuters".

"There are no plans to suddenly reduce their presence here in Europe," he said, referring to the United States.

Rutte made his statement before a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels.

Yesterday it became clear that Washington had sent clear signals to its European allies that it expects them to continue buying American weapons, despite the European Union's plans to limit the participation of American manufacturers in defense tenders.

The European Commission is preparing a new strategy to strengthen the continent's military industry. The plan, called ReArm Europe, includes the possibility of granting 150 billion euros in the form of loans for joint European defense projects. Part of the measures envisage limiting the access of companies outside the EU - including American and British - to financing under the program.
