An avalanche buried and killed four people in the Yagodninsky district of the Magadan region in Russia. They were part of the mountaineering club of Moscow State University. Rescuers managed to pull out alive and evacuate two survivors, the Telegram channel of the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported.
„The surviving tourists were found by employees of the Russian Emergencies Ministry at 05:00. In difficult weather conditions, rescuers lowered them on stretchers for three hours to the foot of the mountain, where medical assistance was waiting for them. The evacuees will be transported for treatment by a „Mi-8“ helicopter of the Russian Emergencies Ministry“, the statement said.
The group of six tourists was buried at an altitude of 2,000 meters. Due to cloud cover and dense fog, rescuers were able to land 5 kilometers from the scene of the incident.
