Nigel Farage, leader of the British far-right party Reform UK, said that he does not fully share the approach of Donald Trump, whom he usually supports, regarding attempts to end the war in Ukraine, reports News.bg.
"It is absolutely right to want peace, but there can be no peace that makes Putin a winner, so I do not 100% agree with his team at the moment, absolutely not", Farage said in an interview with BBC radio.
In the July elections, Farage's party managed to win seats in parliament for the first time after numerous unsuccessful attempts. Reform UK secured representation in five constituencies (one of the MPs was later expelled from the faction). The party's ratings have since continued to rise, even surpassing those of the ruling Labour Party in late February. Despite a slight decline in recent times, Reform UK remains the second-largest political force in opinion polls.
All major British parties unconditionally support Ukraine, but Farage has stood out with a different position even before the election. Although he claims to have no sympathy for Putin, he claims that the West "provoked" Russia to start the war - a thesis that fits with the Russian narrative. Farage has also criticized the current policy towards the conflict, describing it as ineffective.
Donald Trump was re-elected and will be the new US president on 20 January 2025.
