Participants in a protest in central Paris against the delivery of French weapons to Ukraine tore down the EU flag.
"This is not our war! France's role is to be a mediator and to promote peace, not to incite wars," said Florian Philippot, leader of the French Patriots party, at whose call the demonstration was organized.
Hundreds of protesters gathered on the Place du Palais-Royal near the Louvre. Then, participants with posters "We will not die for Ukraine", "Europe must promote peace, not war", "The French are for peace", "Down with NATO" and "We are tired of the European Union" headed to the other bank of the Seine.
"We are against granting another 2 billion euros to Ukraine. This is absolute madness. France's national debt exceeds 3.3 trillion euros," Filippo said.
French President Emmanuel Macron earlier said that Paris planned to provide Kiev with an additional 2 billion euros in aid.
Several thousand people took part in a peaceful demonstration in Wiesbaden in central Germany against the planned deployment of US medium- and shorter-range missiles on German territory, the Wiesbadener Kurier reported.
The activists opposed plans to rearm the Bundeswehr. The demonstrators carried placards with slogans against the massive arms buildup and called for international solidarity.
