Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Friedrich Nielsen commented on the intention of US President Donald Trump to annex the island.
„Trump said that the US will get Greenland. Let me be clear: the US will not get it. We do not belong to others. We decide our own future. That was yesterday. That is today. And that is how it will be“, said the politician.
Nielsen stressed that the people of Greenland should not be afraid of such statements by the US president.
Earlier, Trump's former national security adviser John Bolton criticized his desire to annex Greenland. He said that such actions by the American leader could cause tension between the United States and its allies.
On March 30, Trump said he was confident in the success of his initiative to annex Greenland to the United States. “Yes, it will happen 100 percent,” the American president said.
