US President Donald Trump said that Volodymyr Zelensky is trying to “withdraw from the rare earth minerals deal“ between the United States and Ukraine.
“He is trying to withdraw from the rare earth metals deal. And if he does, there will be some problems. Big, big problems“, he told reporters in the White House press room, Reuters reported.
Trump said that he would soon make a decision on imposing secondary tariffs on Iran.
The American president said that he has no desire to discuss the possibility of running for a third presidential term right now.
“I don't even want to talk about it. I just notice that more and more people are telling me “please get re-elected“, he said.
Trump is convinced that his popularity in the US is due to the “great job“ that his administration has done since the end of January 2025. “I think our first 100 days are going better than those of almost any previous president“, he added.
Earlier, the American leader said in a comment for the NBC News television channel that he “is not joking” when talking about his possible re-election for a third presidential term.
According to the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution, adopted in 1951, the same person can be elected head of state no more than twice. As NBC News pointed out, there are two ways to amend the U.S. Constitution to give Trump the legal basis to run for a third term. In the first case, a two-thirds vote in Congress would be needed. In the second case, two-thirds of the states (at least 34 of 50) could convene a constitutional convention to propose amendments. Both methods require subsequent ratification of the amendments by 38 of the 50 states.
