Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed in his address yesterday his distrust of Russian President Vladimir Putin's intention to make peace, Sky News reports.
"The geography and brutality of Russian strikes, not only from time to time, but literally every day and night, show that Putin doesn't care about diplomacy", he stated.
"For several weeks now, there has been a US proposal for an unconditional ceasefire, and almost every day in response to this proposal, there are Russian drones, bombs, artillery fire and ballistic strikes''.
The media recall that yesterday Trump criticized Vladimir Putin for comments made by him to install an interim foreign government in Ukraine under the auspices of the UN and threatened to impose double sanctions on Russian oil. This is a sharp turn in the American leader's attitude towards the Russian president, about whom he has generally spoken positively so far.
The Ukrainian president also again called on the United States and its partners to increase pressure on Russia to “disrupt its ability to wage war“.
"Russia deserves increased pressure – all tough measures that can disrupt its ability to wage war and support the system that wants nothing more than war“, he added.
"Sanctions against Russia are essential. More air defense for Ukraine is essential. More cooperation and unity between all partners is also essential."
