The United States has already received requests from more than 50 countries to start negotiations to discuss reducing or eliminating import tariffs imposed by Washington, said the head of the National Economic Council at the White House, Kevin Hassett.
“Yesterday I received a report from the US trade negotiator that more than 50 countries have contacted President Donald Trump to start negotiations. They are doing this because they understand that they have been imposed a lot of tariffs“, Hassett said in an interview with ABC News.
Hassett also said that Washington has not imposed import tariffs on Moscow because Trump does not want this topic to interfere with negotiations for a peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine. "Obviously, there are negotiations with Russia and Ukraine, and I believe the president has made a decision not to mix those two issues," he said, adding that the refusal to raise tariffs on the Russian Federation does not mean that the United States will treat Russia fundamentally differently in the future.
