Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Advisor to the Russian President Yuri Ushakov, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Relations Grigory Karasin, and Advisor to the Director of the Federal Security Service Sergei Beseda have demonstrated the highest professionalism in Riyadh during negotiations with the United States to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, The Washington Post reports.

According to the authors of the article, the Russian representatives have vast decades of experience in negotiations and are well acquainted with all aspects of the Ukrainian conflict.

Analysts interviewed by the newspaper call the holding of negotiations to normalize relations between Russia and the United States along with consultations on the Ukrainian conflict a “great victory for Russian diplomacy“.

On February 18, the Russian and American delegations held the first round of negotiations to resolve the Ukrainian conflict in Riyadh. Russia was represented at the meeting by Lavrov, Ushakov and the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev.

The US was represented at the talks by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Special Representative of the US President Stephen Witkoff. On February 27, technical groups from Russia and the US discussed problems in the work of the embassies of the two countries in Istanbul.

On March 24, a meeting between representatives of Russia and the US was held in Riyadh, dedicated to the resumption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative. The Russian delegation to the consultations was led by Karasin and Beseda. The US delegation included Andrew Peake, Senior Director for Europe at the National Security Council, and Michael Anton, Director of Policy Planning at the State Department.
