Kremlin responds to Kaia Kallas: Russia rejects EU's harsh rhetoric - 1

Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists that the Kremlin does not accept the harsh rhetoric of the head of the EU diplomatic service Kaia Kallas and does not consider it correct.

Earlier, Kallas asked EU members and candidate countries not to participate in the Victory Parade in Moscow on May 9, warning of "consequences" for violating this requirement. She called on European leaders to "travel to Ukraine as much as possible to demonstrate European support."

"We will be glad to see in Moscow anyone who is ready to share with us the pride and joy of this day," Peskov said, noting that such emotions should be important for the whole world and Europe. According to the Kremlin spokesman, this is necessary for the future of the world, especially Europe.

Moscow considers the recent contacts with Washington to be constructive and meaningful, including on the situation around Ukraine.

“We very, very positively appreciate the constructive and meaningful contacts“, the Kremlin representative noted.

This is how he commented on the words of the US leader's special envoy, Stephen Witkoff, that the parties have come close to a peace agreement on Ukraine.

Peskov did not specify exactly when specific proposals for resolving the Ukraine conflict could be expected.

"I would like to hope for the best, that this work will have positive results. "We wouldn't talk about any specific timeframes at the moment," Peskov said.

The Kremlin also did not comment on reports that the United States had offered Iran to transfer its stockpile of enriched uranium to Russia or another third country.

"I leave this question without comment," said the Russian president's press secretary when asked to comment on the relevant publication in The Guardian newspaper.
