Two people were injured in last night's Russian drone attack on the Ukrainian city of Odessa, the head of the Odessa regional military administration Oleg Kiper announced, BTA reports.

"The enemy attacked Odessa again with drones at night. This time, the Russian strike was aimed at the civilian infrastructure in the suburbs of the city," Kiper specified in a message on the Telegram app.

According to the regional governor, the strikes resulted in a number of fires.

All relevant services are actively working to eliminate the consequences of the attack.

Damage was caused to the civilian infrastructure, and the fires that occurred damaged both residential buildings and private enterprise buildings, the State Emergency Service reported.

Bulgarians in the Odessa region number over 150,000, making them the third largest ethnic group in the region according to the official census in Ukraine in 2001. Between 50,000 and 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odessa itself.

The largest compact Bulgarian population is located in the Bolgrad, Izmail, and Belgorod-Dniester regions.
