The Russian armed forces continue to experience a shortage of weapons, despite a significant growth in production over the past year. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with the State Military-Industrial Commission, Reuters reports, BTA reports.

According to Putin, the Russian troops have received over 4,000 armored vehicles, 180 combat aircraft and helicopters, as well as more than 1.5 million drones of various types.

However, the president stressed that there are still serious gaps in other areas of armaments.
“I am aware, and many of the participants in today's meeting are equally aware, that these weapons are still insufficient“, Putin said.

His remarks come amid the Kremlin's ongoing efforts to modernize the army and sustain its military campaign in Ukraine.
