Xi Jinping: Tariffs and trade wars harm the world economic order - 1

Tariffs and trade wars undermine the legitimate rights and interests of all countries, destroy the multilateral trading system and negatively affect the world economic order. This was stated by Chinese President Xi Jinping during a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Beijing, reported "Reuters" and "Xinhua" agency, reports News.bg.

Xi stressed China's willingness to work closely with Azerbaijan to safeguard the international system and deepen security and law enforcement partnerships.

“China is ready to cooperate with the Azerbaijani side to safeguard the international system with the United Nations as its foundation and uphold international fairness and justice,“ he said.

The two leaders announced the establishment of a “comprehensive strategic partnership“ between their countries, as part of which 20 cooperation agreements were signed. They cover a wide range of areas - from law and green development to the digital economy, intellectual property and even outer space.

Azerbaijan, which borders Iran, Russia, Georgia and Armenia, was among the first countries to support China's “One Belt, One Road” initiative when it was launched in 2013. The initiative aims to expand China's global economic and geopolitical influence through infrastructure development and better connectivity between countries.
