Tehran: New sanctions contradict Trump's claims that he wants to negotiate - 1

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said that the new US sanctions against Iran contradict their claims that they are ready to negotiate with the Islamic Republic on nuclear issues, IRNA reported, BTA reports.

Bagaei said that the persistent imposition of sanctions by the US on Iran's economy and trade is harassment and an illegal measure that contradicts their claims regarding negotiations, which shows a lack of goodwill and serious attitude.

He added that the imposition of unilateral sanctions against the Iranian people is an arbitrary and illegal act that contradicts the basic principles of international law. The US administration must therefore be held accountable for gross human rights violations.

According to the spokesman, the US administration is using the embargo as a tool for political pressure on developing countries, which violates the UN Charter and international law. He added that such actions undermine the rule of law, the principles of free trade and the right to development.

Yesterday, the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control imposed sanctions on Iranian citizen and liquefied gas entrepreneur Asadollah Emamjomeh and his corporate network.
