The joint meeting held yesterday between the IAEA representatives and the director general of the nuclear agency came after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi visited Beijing earlier this week.
The meeting had in-depth communication on the IAEA's role in the political and diplomatic process of settling Iran's nuclear program, with China expressing support for Iran's dialogue with all parties, including the United States, Xinhua said.
A few days ago, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Iran would have to stop enriching uranium under an agreement with the United States and would only be able to import what is needed for a peaceful nuclear program.
However, Tehran said that its right to enrich uranium is not up for discussion.
Iran's distrust of US President Donald Trump remains strong, especially after he unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal and reimposed harsh sanctions.
Trump has repeatedly threatened to strike Iranian nuclear sites if a deal is not reached.
