Unidentified vehicle found on sunken aircraft carrier - 1

An unidentified all-terrain vehicle has been found on an aircraft carrier that sank during World War II. The ship, called the Yorktown, was sunk by a Japanese submarine in the mid-1940s about 1,500 kilometers northwest of Honolulu. Now, experts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have sent a robotic complex equipped with a camera to the sunken ship.

The 246-meter aircraft carrier was designed to accommodate 2,200 people and 90 aircraft. Now, experts have determined that there was also a car on board the ship. The black SUV, found upright, resembles a 1940-1941 Ford Super Deluxe Woody. Scientists were able to partially decipher the inscription “Court Service“ on the license plate, but are still not sure what it is.

The Ford Super Deluxe is actively used as a staff car in the US Army. At the same time, to date, experts have not heard of any SUVs for staff naval officers. The discoverers believe that the car may have belonged to the captain or admiral of the aircraft carrier.
