In Italy, the mayor of the town of Alicudi and the island of the same name, located in the Tyrrhenian Sea, north of Sicily, gives free goats to those who can catch them. Official Ricardo Gullo came up with a sort of campaign “Get your goat“ since the last census. It turned out that on the territory of the smallest of the Aeolian Islands, there are 600 goats per 100 inhabitants.
Basic condition — one has to catch it with one's own hands.
It has been reported that anyone who sends a request to the local government by e-mail and pays a “stamp fee” of 17 USD can take care of as many goats as they want. In this case, the person undertakes to remove the animals from the island within 15 days from the date of obtaining the permit.
Applications were accepted until April 10, it is not yet known how many people took advantage of the promotion and whether the mayor plans to repeat it.
