Chinese authorities will ensure fair and transparent investigation into the tariffs imposed by the European Union on Chinese cars, the official representative of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China He Yongqian announced.

„We will listen to a wide range of opinions, we will ensure a fair and just, open and transparent investigation,”, she stressed.

As He Yongqian clarified, the Ministry of Commerce will legally assist in conducting surveys and field research. “The relevant results of the investigation will be announced in due course”, she added.

On July 4, the EU introduced tariffs ranging from 17.4% to 37.6% on electric vehicles from China. According to the European Commission, these tariffs were implemented based on the results of a nine-month investigation to combat “illegal subsidies”. The highest executive body of the European Union clarifies that consultations with China on this topic “have intensified in recent months” and the European side expects to reach an agreement through negotiations in accordance with the norms of the World Trade Organization.

On July 10, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China launched an investigation into European tariffs on Chinese electric cars. It should end on January 10, 2025 and, if necessary, can be extended by 3 months.
