The Head of State Rumen Radev visited a newly constructed production plant in Burgas base of the company "International Armored Group“ (IAG), specialized in the production of armored vehicles for global markets. The President and his wife Desislava Radeva were welcomed by the founder and owner of IAG, Dr. Anton Stefov, who presented the plans and possibilities of the investment project. This was announced by the presidential press office.
The plant is expected to be opened on October 1, 2024 and to be staffed mainly by Bulgarian specialists. The investment provides for the production of various types of armored vehicles according to NATO standards, as well as drones for rescue, reconnaissance and emergency teams. The Mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, was also present at the presentation, as the municipality is engaged in building the infrastructure for the production base in the industrial zone of the seaside city.
The training of qualified personnel in our country and the contribution of the defense industry to economic growth and employment were discussed during the visit. President Radev noted the importance of industrial cooperation, the development of logistics and opportunities to support defense capabilities in the process of modernization of the Bulgarian Army. The introduction of high-tech solutions in the production of defense equipment and the attraction of the scientific community were also topics of conversation.
