The Turkish medium-range Hisar-O anti-aircraft missile system (SAMS), which is to to become the basis of the Republic's Steel Dome national air defense system, successfully launched a long-range missile, Turkey's Ministry of Defense Industry announced.
"The target was destroyed by a direct hit from a distance of more than 40 km by a missile fired by a Hisar-O battery. We will continue to work to increase the effective range of the Hisar-O system through next-generation technological advancements in addition to its existing capabilities,” the department said in a statement.
The department notes that deliveries of the first batch of air defense systems in a new generation configuration are planned by the end of 2024.
On August 6, after a meeting of the executive committee of the defense industry, it was announced that Turkey has created a multi-level air defense system "Steel Dome". It envisages the integration of the country's air defense systems into a single network and the transmission of information through it for real-time decision-making.
