The volume of Turkish natural gas production in the Black Sea Sakarya field reached 6 million cubic meters per day, the head of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic Alparslan Bayraktar announced in X.
„Today, 6 million of the 20 million households using natural gas in Turkey use the gas we produce in Sakarya. I hope that by April 2025 we will increase the volumes of gas production to 10 million cubic meters. m per day“, the minister said at a meeting with activists of the ruling Justice and Development Party in the Black Sea province of Zonguldak.
In May, the volume of gas production in the Sakarya field reached 5 million cubic meters per day. At the same time, the head of the Turkish Ministry of Energy announced plans to increase daily gas production to 10 million cubic meters.
Turkey plans to create an offshore natural gas production base. "We are creating a naval base. Our new floating production platform is now on its way. We hope that she will be in Turkey at the end of September, and in the first half of 2025 she will arrive in Filios and Zonguldak (Turkey's Black Sea coast cities). With this production unit, we will produce 10 million cubic meters. gas for 20 years in the sea, 170 km from the coast“, noted the head of the Turkish Ministry of Energy.
Local authorities said earlier that gas reserves explored by Turkey in the Black Sea amount to about 710 billion cubic meters. m, which is enough to satisfy domestic demand at the household level for 35 years.
