In 2022, the Czech Republic cut off Russian gas supplies, and in the spring of 2025 .will get rid of its dependence on oil supplies from the Russian Federation. This was announced by the Prime Minister of the Republic, Petar Fiala, at the annual meeting of the country's ambassadors and heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Prague, according to the news agency ČTK

„In 2022, we got rid of our dependence on Russian gas, and in the spring of next year we will achieve the same independence from (Russian) oil,”, the Prime Minister said. He recalled that this will happen after the capacity expansion of the transalpine oil pipeline TAL.

The head of government also noted that Czech nuclear power plants are abandoning Russian nuclear fuel and switching to purchasing it from Western producers. One of the main tasks of Czech diplomacy, according to Fiala, is to support the development of the republic's political, humanitarian, commercial and economic relations with countries that respect international law.
