Siemens violated its contractual obligations to supply equipment for the NPP " ;Akkuyu", negotiations with her did not lead to a result. "As a result, all the necessary components were found in countries friendly to Russia and have already been delivered to the facility," Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters.

"Rosatom, together with its Turkish partners, promptly carried out all necessary corrective measures and found a solution. Alternative equipment was procured from friendly countries. Now the first batch of equipment has already been delivered to the Akkuyu NPP site, he said.

Novak added that the time for launching the first unit of the Akkuyu NPP to be specified, but all four power units of the station will be operational in 2028.

„Unfortunately, a number of unfriendly countries are trying to prevent the realization of this dream of the Turkish people. So we faced a situation where, despite the concluded contract, a supplier from a western country – Siemens (Germany), breached its contractual obligations to supply a certain range of equipment. Although not critical, it is important to the project. Despite all our efforts, as well as the participation of the Turkish side, the negotiations did not yield a constructive result. The equipment was never delivered to the site”, he said.

In his words, Russia and the Turkish side are assessing the impact of the situation on the overall project implementation schedule. “Nevertheless, together with the Turkish side, we are making every effort to ensure that all four power units of the “Akkuyu“ they will work in 2028”, he emphasized.
