Russian-Indian venture BrahMos Aerospace is discussing the supply of its BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles with Vietnam, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
„There are talks with Indonesia, with Vietnam, with the UAE. These are the countries that showed interest in the first place”, said the managing co-director of BrahMos Aerospace Alexander Maksichev and specified that contracts for the delivery of the missiles can be signed with them. He did not go into details at what stage the negotiations are for their possible purchase of weapons.
The BrahMos missile was developed by the Russian enterprise NPO Mashinostroenie. and the Defense Research and Development Organization of India. Its first test launch took place in 2001. Various modifications are in service today with the Indian Air Force, Navy and Army. BrahMos Aerospace also offers such missiles for export to third countries. The Philippines became the first foreign customer.
