EU discusses ban on temporary storage of Russian oil - 1

EU countries are discussing a ban on temporary storage of Russian oil on the territory of the community as part of the preparation of a new package of sanctions, reported the ag. Bloomberg with reference to sources and a document in its possession.

According to him, Brussels may also expand the restrictions that apply to the Russian air fleet and ban settlements with a “large list“ of ports and airports in Russia, which are allegedly involved in the transportation of weapons and components for their production. At the same time, the EU intends to provide exemptions from the sanctions list related to energy cooperation and possible emergency situations.

The agency notes that such decisions must be approved by all EU countries and may undergo changes before the start of formal discussions. According to Bloomberg estimates, it is impossible to say for sure that a consensus will be reached in the community on the content of the package of measures, since some countries, including Hungary, oppose tightening anti-Russian sanctions.

Earlier, the European publication Politico, citing sources, reported that the European Commission will officially present the draft of the 16th package of measures to EU politicians on Wednesday.
