Russia plans to initially reach an annual production of at least 36 MC-21 aircraft, and subsequently to double these volumes, taking into account export plans, announced the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov.
"Our goal is to reach at least 36 MC-21s per year at the first stage. And then our task is to double this capacity, I mean, of course, plans to enter the export market“, Alikhanov said.
Earlier on February 5, the minister confirmed the start of deliveries of MC-21s to Russian airlines in 2026. As Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov previously stated, serial production of the MS-21 aircraft is planned to begin next year.
The MS-21 is a domestic project of a short- and medium-range passenger aircraft, which is designed to replace the Tu-154 and the Tu-204 family on the Russian market. It can also be an alternative to foreign aircraft.
The MS-21 is designed to transport passengers, baggage and cargo on domestic and international flights. It is planned to create a family of aircraft that differ in length and passenger capacity - 150, 180, 210 seats, respectively.
