Amazon responds to EU decision to impose a fee on parcels - 1

Amazon is studying the details of the European Commission's introduction of a fee for small parcels.

“We support efforts to level the playing field for e-commerce in Europe and to simplify processes for both businesses and customs authorities. We believe that rules should ensure the safety of consumers, whether online or offline. We believe that all consumers should be safe wherever they shop, with clear rules and responsibilities for all participants“, Amazon wrote in a press release received by FAKTI, commenting on the EC decision.

The introduction of a fee for parcels will compensate EU countries' customs services for losses caused by the need to process a large number of parcels through customs. In 2024 The EU received 4.6 billion parcels worth less than €150, 80% of which were sent from China, the newspaper said. The number of such shipments increased fourfold between 2022 and 2024.
