Western brands will be able to return to Russia on a competitive basis, this would be in the interests of local consumers, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, said at a briefing.
„We, to be honest, have not seen any reports of Western brands themselves returning to Moscow. But the fact that they will be able to return to Moscow on a competitive basis and continue to compete with Russian manufacturers is a completely normal global trade practice. And such competition would be in the interests of Russian consumers“, the Kremlin representative pointed out.
Earlier, the vice president of the Union of Shopping Centers Pavel Lyulin said that negotiations on the return of Inditex Group brands to Russia, including Zara, are being conducted privately. He expressed the opinion that we need to return to the market, where there is already a shortage of free retail space. As experts told TASS, brands hope that by the end of 2025 the situation will allow them to return to the market.
