The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Russia in 2024 amounted to about $28 billion. "Astana expects this year to exceed $30 billion", said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the republic Murat Nurtleu at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Nurtleu noted that the main event in the political life of the two countries is the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Russia in November 2024.
„Based on the results of 2024, Russia is in second place after the Netherlands, and based on the results that will be summarized soon, I think Russia will be the first investor. Trade between the two countries is developing well. According to Kazakh statistics, last year we traded $28 billion. And the goal was to bring them to 30 billion USD. I think this year we will already exceed 30 billion USD. We are ready for this“, Nurtleu said.
According to him, state agencies are working in the right direction, and business is actively developing. “Very good dynamics, good development, we are ready to continue. As for investment projects, it is worth noting that we have many joint projects and large-scale projects, with Russian business, their number exceeds 170 projects, which will be implemented in the near future, they are strategically important, as they cover the areas of transport and logistics, energy, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, industry, agriculture“, Nurtleu said.
The head of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry pointed to the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan as another important project.
