I will not delay the political process. On Tuesday I will issue 3 decrees – for the caretaker government, for European elections and for extraordinary parliamentary elections “2 in 1“ on June 9. This was stated by President Rumen Radev during the consultations with the parties, at which Dimitar Glavchev, appointed as acting prime minister, announced the ministers in his cabinet. How to look at the office… The political scientist Assoc. Tatiana Burudzhieva spoke to FAKTI.
- Mrs. Burudzhieva, the composition of the official cabinet is clear. What you see at first glance. Do you have any concerns about the names that are inside?
- If I have to be honest, and I assume that most Bulgarians also think so, we should not have any concerns about the composition of the official cabinet for two reasons. First, the office has clearly defined functions. Second, there is now a parliament that can control the official cabinet. That is, even those who have concerns at the moment should know that all the possibilities and tools are already in place to control the ministers they have concerns about. In general, the very fact that ministers from the previous cabinet remain, which I personally did not expect, but as it became clear from the reaction of the PP-DB, these were personal decisions of the people, indicates that the representation in this cabinet of the political forces that are in parliament, is pretty much guaranteed.
- You didn't expect people from the “Denkov“ office to stay, because…
- Because we heard a preliminary request that they will be punished politically. It is normal that this decision is more difficult to make on an individual level.
- So we can still talk about conscience in politicians. Is that so…
- I don't know if we should enter such moral categories. When one man stands for one political office, we like to say that it belongs to all. For example, that the mayor belongs to everyone, it doesn't matter that he was elected by only some people, that the president belongs to everyone… When it comes to putting this principle into practice, we generally disagree. According to this logic, every minister is a minister of Bulgaria and not of the political party that sent him to the post. In this sense, what kind of conscience should we talk about. It is logical for the minister of Bulgaria that his conscience should be such that he remains a minister after he knows what he is doing, and after it is assessed that he has been doing it correctly, for example. Everything else is already an election battle.
- We heard the opposition say that the official cabinet is “well balanced“ and immediately with the clarification between GERB-SDS, DPS and PP-DB…
- As a matter of fact, the office is connected - in one way or another - with ITN. I mean the Minister of Tourism, for example. (b.r. – producer Evtim Miloshev, who for many years was part of Slavi Trifonov's team) I would say that the interests of the citizens are protected through the political parties represented in the parliament.
- We are going to elections “2 in 1“ – pre-term parliamentary and for the European Parliament. It is clear. What do you expect?
- This was the most logical thing from the point of view of the citizens, so that we would not have to go to two elections in a row.
- A and 100 mln. BGN is 100 million. leva…
- I have always said that the most ridiculous thing when it comes to elections is to comment on how much they cost and the fuss around them. This is brought to the fore in a democratic process. And if we take into account the billions that we have lost due to corruption, it is a big deal that we give 100 million BGN for elections. Anoint them with honey. For me, it's not about the money. The point is that elections are held so that the citizens can express their will and we should not harass the citizens and make it difficult for them to express that will. Second, the politicians themselves will also have difficulties in the campaign if they have to explain what and how is happening. “2 in 1” will, of course, distort the topic of “Europe” a lot, but the parties that manage to connect national problems and policies, offering solutions, with European ones - may have more success in the campaign. I don't know that. But the main news and issues that will be addressed will be national. This is the problem and the challenge for the parties. Moreover, if the elections were on two different dates, there would be a big problem with the campaigns themselves in general. Let's not forget that the campaigns are also paid for with our money, because the funding of the parties comes from us. Thus, elections on two dates would cost us much more and be more complicated. For me “2 in 1“ suits everyone. The only thing that again stands as a question for me is that the CEC in the conversations with the president allowed themselves to explain when the elections will be held, if they are on different dates!? All of us, as citizens, pay for years to have a permanent electoral administration. And this election administration - the CEC, to tell me when it will be ready for the date of the elections, this is heavy nonsense. It just doesn't make sense then to pay for permanent administration. She must always be ready to make a quality organization of elections.
Tatyana Burudzhieva in front of FACTS: Now a parliament is working, which can control the official cabinet
For the CEC to tell me when it will be ready for the date of the elections, this is heavy nonsense, says the political scientist
