Deyan Kyuranov: A parliamentary government is better than a presidential government - 1

"I did not expect such things. There are no real conditions for them. It's mostly a media bubble." This opinion was expressed to the BNR by political scientist Deyan Kyuranov from the Center for Liberal Strategies regarding today's first day of the new - 51st National Assembly, the declarations of the parties and the ongoing protests under the windows of the authorities.

"The good news from what we have seen and heard is that a number of things that could have happened did not happen, not because there is an explosive situation, but because a large part of our people's elected officials are hashlaks without any sense of morality and decency. But they didn't - they didn't fail the first meeting. Even those who strongly attack the results of the elections and the situation in Bulgaria in general, did not behave in such a way as to fail things. This shows that all of them are much more afraid of new elections than of a government, albeit a clumsy one," he commented in the program "Horizon do Poed".

In his words, what was said in the National Assembly are just words, behind which there are no real intentions and actions. According to him, the real actions and intentions will be understood after the negotiations for the Speaker of the National Assembly and eventually for a government are over.

"It is better to have a government of the parliament, whatever it is, than a government of the president, because the president's name is Radev,", Kyuranov is convinced. And added:

"They want a new presidential caretaker government and so on, amen".

On the proposed candidates for the Speaker of the National Assembly, Deyan Kyuranov commented:

"It is not so important who is the president of this parliament. The fact that they want it to be exactly their man is another struggle for power".

The political scientist is disturbed by what happened in front of the National Theatre:

"This shows that with good organization anything can be done. Then they didn't kill anyone, they might have had an order to kill someone. They may receive an order tomorrow to carry out a pogrom. This is extremely disturbing. This is a huge lumpen potential of people who are ready for money to do whatever they are told, convinced that they will then be protected by the one who paid them because he is the state or part of the state.

Still, he doesn't believe in this scenario of organizing a riot from the street.
