„We continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria” and MECH held a meeting in the parliament, Nova TV reports. The talks are on the initiative of the PP-DB and take place a day before the negotiations scheduled by the GERB-SDS with the formations in the new National Assembly.
The co-chairman of PP-DB Asen Vasilev explained that the idea of the meeting is to discuss the declaration proposed by the coalition and especially its legislative part. “Let's hear if you have proposals for legislative initiatives in the first three months of this parliament, before we can talk about a president. It should be clear what this National Assembly is going to do, and then look for a person who can make the commitment that these things will be done”, he turned to MECH.
MEC leader Radostin Vassilev thanked for the received invitation to talk. “I understand that you again perceive that we should first talk about what the National Assembly will work on and then let's see if it is possible to elect a chairman who will work primarily on anti-corruption legislation. I won't hide it - I am deeply skeptical that GERB, “DPS - New Beginning”, and a number of other subjects in the parliament will want to have this conversation. We have been actively involved in some of these bills when they were being written,” he said.
Kiril Petkov, for his part, said that he welcomes the positions of MECH on the anti-corruption legislation. The “sanitary cordon”, which we talked about after the vote, is not based on whether we like one or the other. "We believe that the elections were stolen on a huge scale," explained the PP-DB co-chairman. He handed the party's declaration to Radostin Vassilev and expressed hope that it will be formally signed.
After Radostin Vassilev's party, meetings are planned with “There is such a people” and Alliance for Rights and Freedoms. An invitation has also been sent to GERB-SDS, and their response is awaited.
