Daniel Smilov: GERB have no serious intention to form a government - 1

The election of the Speaker of the Parliament continues next week. Can the 51st National Assembly be expected to produce a regular government? Political scientist Daniel Smilov and communication expert Nidal Algaffari comment on the topic in the studio of “Offensive with Ljubo Ognyanov” on NOVA NEWS.

„My opinion is that the current acting chairman will remain and they will not be able to choose, because the big danger of who will be the chairman of the National Assembly is that he may eventually become acting prime minister and that will tilt the scales in one direction or another. The political formations would have a hard time agreeing to someone other than their candidate," Alghafari said.

„I still think it will be extremely difficult and impossible. We will fall into a constitutional crisis. It may have turned out that there is no way for the National Assembly to disband and go to elections. I don't expect an agreement to be reached on the election of the chairman of the NA”, he pointed out.

According to Smilov, there are two options. “One is, if the GERBs really intend to form a government with a majority of the four parties they listed, we can expect a Speaker of the National Assembly from their party. A person named by GERB”, he thinks. “If they show that they have no intention, there will still be an elected president, but from another party”, said the political scientist and added: “The second option is to go to elections”.

„In this parliament, there is really a serious isolation of Delyan Peevski. This does not mean that the majority can give birth to the whole. There is no way to form a government around PP-DB. The only formula for regular management is the one Borisov pointed out. My impression is that GERB have no serious intention to form a regular government, Smilov said.
