A train wagon with grain derailed last night near Dimitrovgrad, the press center of the National Company “ Railway infrastructure“, broadcast by BTA.
The incident happened at 03:15. this night at Dimitrovgrad-sever station. The seventh wagon of an 18-wagon combination of a private freight carrier carrying grain leaves the tracks. There were no injuries. 1 km and 200 m of railway and two switches were damaged.
The movement of trains in the Dimitrovgrad-North interstation – Merichleri has been discontinued. Equipment and teams were immediately dispatched to the site to lift the wagons and begin restoration activities, which continue to this day.
A commission was appointed in time to establish the causes of the incident.
Passengers from the affected trains are transported by buses in the Mihailovo - Dimitrovgrad section. Due to a broken connection of train sets, part of the passengers in the Dimitrovgrad section – Kardzhali – Horseshoe – Momchilgrad is also transported by buses.
Train service on the section is expected to be restored around 7:00 p.m. tonight.
