GERB works for a cabinet. We are the only political force that, in this difficult situation, wants, has the motivation to form a government. I'm afraid that everyone else is in pre-election campaign mode. This was stated by the deputy chairman of GERB, Tomislav Donchev, in the program “More from the day” on BNT, quoted by novini.bg.
„We held initial talks. Before there is a coalition government, there must be trust and respect. We held introductory talks, de-escalation of political tension – to sit with the BSP at the same table and comment on policies in a benevolent tone is a new genre in Bulgarian politics, as well as with ITN. We understand that there may be more meetings”, .
„It is better to have a cabinet of the majority than of the minority. Behind a cabinet, if there is not a majority in the National Assembly that provides support for voting on the budget and important laws, it is more like a hostage and cannot work. The big problem is that we have fallen into the trap of one election after another. After these elections, there is a danger of new ones, so everyone is in campaign mode. Trying to create a government requires a dose of respect, goodwill, trying to build trust and bridges, not lines that divide us. We have historically built not bridges but flyovers. "I have not behaved disrespectfully towards them, but this is not bilateral," explained the deputy chairman of GERB.
If there is readiness for talks about a ruling majority and a government, there will certainly be talks with the leaders of "We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB). Yesterday there was an announcement from their side that they are ready for such talks. Tomorrow we meet at the National Assembly if this request is confirmed and if the meeting is not a pre-election event. Any formats are possible – both expert and leader level. Speaking of conditions, these are not flags to be waved, it is the quality of the bill that matters. For me, the meetings should be about forming a governing majority, which will lead to the election of a government, and not be an exorcism ceremony,” Tomislav Donchev explained.
„I find it unacceptable that people who have seen each other 200 times more than I have with Peevski make me disown him. From a moral point of view, I find it unacceptable. Speaking of sanitary cordons, we have brought it to the point where every party has surrounded itself with one – nobody can work with nobody. The main mode of politics has become to destroy the other, and the point of politics is to form a majority and elect a government that works. Bulgaria is in desperate need of a strong professional government. Efforts are needed to close the wounds of the Bulgarian society society. The political tension must be de-escalated”, the politician pointed out.
„No one deserves to watch a scandal from the front row of parliament. He sent him to do a job – to pass good laws, to elect a government”, he stressed.
