Jordan Ivanov: There is no change in our position and we will not support Silvi Kirilov - 1

There is no change in our position and we will not let's support Silvi Kirilov for Speaker of the National Assembly. Yordan Ivanov - deputy chairman of the DSB, part of the PP-DB coalition, stated this before today's fifth attempt to elect a chairman.

He again pointed out as one of the problems that Kirilov is supported by "Vazrazhdane" and ITN with the argument that a future caretaker prime minister is being elected.

"Thus, by electing a future caretaker prime minister, it a priori means that we are putting an end to the 51st National Assembly. The will of "Democratic Bulgaria" she is not like that. We may elect a future caretaker prime minister, and that's not necessarily a bad move, and 2 days before the end of the 51st NA".

It is impossible for DB to take part in a governing majority with "Vazrazhdane", the deputy was categorical in an interview for the program "Before all".

"The election of Silvi Kirilov automatically removes the responsibility from GERB, who actually do nothing to this day, have not held consultations. They have not held a single political conversation about how the country will be governed, how we will maintain a 3% deficit, whether we will enter Schengen and the Eurozone. This great political responsibility lies a priori with GERB, and they are not doing anything", he commented and expressed his opinion that GERB want to "throw the state to elections again".

In his words, their main goal is to have a stable and regular government. PP-DB do not want to go to elections, Yordan Ivanov was categorical.

"How can we enter a hall, on Wednesday, and vote with an unclear majority. The parties had not given their positions. This is not a transparent process," the DSB vice-chairman pointed out. He distinguished between voting on bills and voting for the speaker of the National Assembly:

"Borisov and GERB are just waiting to see us in the same cup with "Vazrazhdane". The moment he sees us in one majority with "Revival", he will say "End of the 51st NA". This is a problem for us. We do not want the 51st National Assembly to end. We want regular power. A vote for the Speaker of the National Assembly can essentially be argued as a political majority, and we refuse to participate with "Revival" in such".

According to him, it is exposed that if a president is elected now, it will be possible to stop the procedure for electing a new chief prosecutor, to have a new anti-corruption commission and to accept all important changes. "What guarantees are there that this will happen?", he asked and reminded that Delyan Peevski became a member of the constitutional commission, thanks to the non-voting of "Vazrajdane".

"Today, we have no guarantees that Silvi Kirilov will carry out those important changes with a majority behind him, which we are looking for, want and have promised to our voters,", stressed Yordan Ivanov.

Is there an obstacle to all parties signing specific texts in the Judiciary Act before voting for the president, he asked and stated that if someone had wanted this, it would have already happened.

"Today there are no guarantees that the election of Silvi Kirilov means a new anti-corruption commission.

According to him, GERB's behavior is inexplicable. And he pointed out that the job of the party is to look for majorities.

"We are not saying that we are not ready to compromise. We say that today there are no guarantees for the reforms", the deputy repeated again and declared: "We will initiate a political process to unblock the crisis".

There is no split in the PP-DB, Yordan Ivanov was also categorical and explained that they simply have different political positions within this vote.

In his words, it is equally important to have a sanitary cordon around Peevski and one around "Vazrazhdane".
