Evtim Miloshev: Schengen brings positives to Bulgarian tourism - 1

Official Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev stated during his visit to Singapore that the requirements of the Schengen area regarding the security of Europe are even more important for Bulgaria. The minister is part of the official delegation led by President Rumen Radev.

"The opening of the borders between Bulgaria and Greece and Bulgaria and Romania, as well as the rest of Europe, in terms of tourism is a very positive sign,' Miloshev commented to Bulgarian journalists.

Challenges facing the tourism sector

The minister emphasized the need for adequate planning regarding the workforce from third countries, as the entire European continent, including Bulgaria, is experiencing a shortage of personnel in the tourism industry.

"I am not saying that control will be strengthened in an administrative context, I am saying that from now on investors and employers in the tourism sector should start working to prepare the summer season,", he clarified.

A call to improve working conditions

After the many complaints at the end of the summer tourist season about workers who chose other European destinations, Minister Miloshev emphasized the need to improve working conditions, living conditions, remuneration and the overall attitude towards employees in the sector.

The minister also urged not to underestimate the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

Regarding Bulgaria's land entry into Schengen, Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev announced that the final decision will be announced on December 12. This became clear after the meeting held in Budapest between the interior ministers of Bulgaria, Romania, Austria and Hungary, with the latter taking over the presidency of the Council of the EU for the period from July 31 to December 31 this year.
