From “Vazrazhdane“ a bill with nearly 90 changes to the current Electoral Code has been introduced, but we clearly realize that the problems with electoral fraud are quite serious, and from this point of view we started a public discussion, in which quite a few good ideas were born, some of which are well-forgotten old ones.< /strong> This was stated by the chairman of “Vazrazhdane”-Sofia Deyan Nikolov after the round table organized by the party with civil organizations in connection with the problems of the electoral process in Bulgaria, transmitted by BTA.

He explained that the idea of the discussion was to gather as many proposals as possible to improve the Electoral Code. Nikolov pointed out that the main ideas around which they came together at the roundtable were that the paper ballot should be phased out and the machines should be relied upon to be certified and do the work they can, as long as their code is not tampered with . We discussed ideas about counting centers and about solving in some form the problem with the human factor in the sectional election commissions, where there is a lot of manipulation, said the representative of "Vazrazhdane". He added that the work and mandate of the Central Election Commission and the regional election commissions were discussed, as well as the abolition of the darkrooms.

Deyan Nikolov said that from now on they have to collect all ideas and proposals and consider them with the parliamentary group of “Vazrazhdane”. We will continue the dialogue with citizens and various organizations. We are open to any proposals so that we can reach an Election Code that ensures fairer elections in Bulgaria, he added.

Nikolov pointed out that they should consider whether it is possible to make changes to the Electoral Code in the short term so as to limit election manipulations and frauds if we go to elections again in a few months, and in the long term they should already talk about conceptual changes. to ensure the fairest and most transparent electoral process possible.
