Assen Vassilev: All the masks have fallen, the batons will fall too - 1

The court and the prosecutor's office must start working in a normal way, not selectively, not like "batons". This was told to BTA by the co-chairman of "We Continue the Change" (PP) Assen Vassilev at a protest in front of the Sofia City Court (SCC) building in connection with the arrest of Lachezar Stavrev, a former expert in the Ministry of Finance during Vassilev's term.

Today, the prosecutor's office's request to impose a preventive measure on Stavrev is expected to be considered.

It doesn't matter if I will be the next accused, I will give myself immunity, there is no evidence against me, all this is absolutely fabricated, he commented.

Vassilev described the prosecutor's office's actions against people from PP as biased and selective, and linked them to the talks on forming a government, to the amendments made to the Judiciary Act and the request to establish a cordon around “DPS - New Beginning“.

Stavrev did not do the things that are indicated in the testimonies of Petya Bankova and Stefan Dimitrov, believes Assen Vassilev. According to him, the prosecutor's office is being used for repression.

„All the masks have fallen, now all the clubs will fall too, that's why we introduced the Judiciary Law“, also commented the PP co-chairman. According to him, these "clubs" are also being waved against normal people in the country, who have no one to protect them.

According to PP co-chairman Kiril Petkov, the charges against Lachezar Stavrev are fabricated and he is innocent. Petkov said that 30 people from the Ministry of Interior entered Stavrev's mother's house and only one phone was seized.

According to him, the prosecutor's office is being used as a "club" and Peevski is trying to show that he still has some power, when in fact he is "Mr. Nobody". “Unlike Mr. Borisov, we are not afraid and Mr. Peevski will not bend us“, said Kiril Petkov.

Regarding the arrest of Borisov, Arnaudova and Goranov, he stated that he had never exceeded his powers.

Stavrev's wife thanked the gathered people and for the support shown to her family. “Lacho is a good person who has been unjustly accused“, she said.

Citizens and supporters of the PP have gathered at the scene. Some of them are holding posters with the inscriptions: “#WHO ORDERED LACHO“; “Freedom for Lacho“. The protest is attended by deputies from the parliamentary group of “We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria“ (PP-DB), including Nikolay Denkov, Atanas Atanasov, Bozhidar Bozhanov and Ivaylo Mirchev.
