Selective justice is the worst thing that can happen in the judicial system. This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Yavor Bozhankov from the civil quota of the PP-DB's PG.
If there is something that is stopping the development of Bulgaria, it is the lack of justice or its selectivity, he believes.
Bozhankov described what is happening with Lachezar Stavrev, an associate of Asen Vassilev, and the requested immunities of Kiril Petkov and Lena Borislavova not simply as an attack on the PP, but as a destruction of trust in the judicial system, "which is fragile anyway".
"Nobody asked him for these 69 votes", Bozhankov said regarding Borisov's request for his parliamentary group to stand behind Lena Borislavova.
In his words, various investigations "miraculously end with requests for immunities" at a time when a cabinet should be formed. One of the goals being pursued is to blow up the possibility of a government, the MP suggested.
Previously there was no mechanism for investigating the Prosecutor General, the current mechanism met with broad support - a solution was found in an independent figure who is not hierarchically dependent, Bozhankov noted. Now the conclusion is that no matter what text is written, if the judicial system cannot cleanse itself of dependencies, there is no way that someone from the outside can do it, he added.
"But that does not mean that we should raise a white flag."
Borisov is too dependent on Peevski, and he wants quick elections, said Yavor Bojankov, who believes that Delyan Peevski's rush to new elections aims to "take the other part of the MRF, which is not yet under his control".
Borisov and Peevski are so strong because Boyko Borisov is the first political force. If we want to defeat him, this will not be done through absurd alliances with parties like "Vazrazhdane", but by increasing our confidence in ourselves, Bozhankov explained.
"In a democracy, the arrest of the opposition leader is a nuclear explosion, especially when the court has also determined this arrest to be illegal. Our request was not to fight GERB with their methods and tools," he also reminded, adding that the cases of "illegal arrests and police brutality" during Borisov's rule were countless.
Assen Vassilev's desire for a political cabinet and for him to become a minister is one of the reasons why we are in this situation today. With the "home book" We made a mistake and we are paying the price for this mistake, Yavor Bojankov made a retrospective.
"DB did not think that we should create a political cabinet, but an expert one, and this has turned out to be true to this day."
Asked whether they legitimized Delyan Peevski with their government, he replied that this became "extremely clear in the elections", where they lost "50% of the votes".
It is absolutely true that a second assembly will be absolutely disastrous, Bojankov commented on the program "Politically Incorrect". In his words, with a clear lesson from the events so far, PP-DB is giving a better formula - for an equally approachable prime minister, whom everyone trusts. He assured that they had specific figures in mind, but did not name them.
"If we give a name right now, the fire that will be directed at him will be unbearable. If a second term comes to us, not only can we, but we are obliged to give a recipe for getting out of the political crisis."
Regarding the different voting in the PP-DB on key issues such as the one for the speaker of the parliament, Yavor Bojankov called "absurd to put the coalition to the test because of Silvi Kirilov" and defined it as "a very risky undertaking by Petkov and Borislavova", because a collaboration with "Vazrazhdane" risks disfiguring the coalition.
"This parliament is nightmarishly difficult - too many parties, too few acceptable configurations", is Yavor Bojankov's assessment. In the future, however, according to him, we will see a stronger DPS-NN, and parties like MECH and "Velicie" will achieve a stronger result, so he concludes that if you currently "have bad cards, but are convinced that you will have even worse ones", then you should play now.
GERB is sitting on the sidelines and watching a battle in parliament in which they are not participating, PP-DB should not go ahead against the wind, Yavor Bojankov expressed his opinion.
"It is a bad signal when only half of the coalition participates in some conversation", he is categorical.
When asked whether Assen Vasiliev has a different role in the leadership of PP, Bojankov expressed doubt in some of his positions, since he had seen "strategically wrong forecasts" by Vassilev.
On the topic of the tension between Rumen Radev and Delyan Peevski - Bojankov pointed out that "only President Radev benefits in the long term", who is "an authentically pro-Russian president and represents a strategic risk for Bulgaria in the long term".
"DPS-NN are clearly aware that by attacking President Radev, they are raising his rating. I have one thing in mind: we should not rule out the hypothesis that this is theater. Quick early elections are in the interest of Peevski and in the interest of President Radev. He will sooner or later make a political project. He will go out into the field and is the big winner from this situation. (…) Both of them have the same interest at the moment - to destroy this parliament and go to quick elections."
