Ganev: The requested immunities of Petkov and Borislavova may have a negative impact on the cabinet negotiations - 1

We are observing greater flexibility and willingness to talk. We see a division in the positions of the PP and DB. DB is playing the role of the "bad cop", demonstrating a greater willingness to participate in the negotiations. This was stated by journalist Mira Badzheva on BNT, quoted by novini.bg.

The PP are more rigid, everything is tied to the declaration they put on the table. But still, it is good that there will be a part of their coalition that will participate in the negotiations, she added.

There are differences in the PP-DB and in some of the next elections they will appear separately, Badzheva believes.

According to Dimitar Ganev, the requested immunities of Kiril Petkov and Lena Borislavova may have a negative impact on the cabinet negotiations. "The lifting of Kiril Petkov's immunity also had a negative impact on the negotiation process. An old wound has opened. The prosecutor's office is not playing a constructive role. The timing was not chosen in the best way from the point of view of the negotiation process," added Ganev.
The request for immunities looks like a tease with Kiril Petkov, believes political scientist Petar Cholakov. Borisov is also interfering in two ways. He is taking on the role of lawyer for Petkov and Borislavova. It seems that the event is being held in limbo so that it can be used at a certain point, he also said.

Budget 2025

It is unprecedented for the governor of the BNB to criticize the budget. When he takes such a critical position - the caretaker government should be shown a yellow card, Cholakov noted.

Observing what is happening with the budget - the chance of a government increases, believes Badzheva. "There are already people who think that it is better for some government to come than for Glavchev to become caretaker prime minister again. Although Natalia Kiselova has already appeared, who is also an option", she added.

I don't see how a majority will gather to adopt this budget. While negotiating for a majority, it should either make adjustments to the budget or not be considered until the cabinet is formed, advises Dimitar Ganev.

Regular cabinet

Dimitar Ganev noted thatthere is one configuration for forming a cabinet in this parliament.

"GERB-SDF, PP/DB, BSP and ITN. I put a slash between PP and DB, because only "Democratic Bulgaria" can participate in the government, they have 19 MPs. There are probably people from "Continuing Change" - Daniel Lorer and Yavor Bojankov, who would join this majority. We are moving towards a majority with 126-127 MPs. APS would also support such a majority. "The most important question is whether GEBR-SDF and DB will come to an agreement," Ganev pointed out.
According to Mira Badzheva, Borisov should take a step back and give up being prime minister.
