Velislav Velichkov: Sarafov's withdrawal is the key - 1

The election of a new Prosecutor General is emerging as a key factor for the formation of a regular government in Bulgaria. This became clear from the statement of Velislav Velichkov, Chairman of the Initiative "Justice for All", on the air of the program "Position" on Radio Varna.

"If his candidacy is withdrawn, there will certainly be a government. This will be the deal", said Velichkov, referring to the current acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov.

The Chairman of "Justice for All" outlined two possible scenarios for the development of the situation. The first is related to the voluntary withdrawal of Sarafov's candidacy, and the second - to the possible failure to obtain the necessary majority in the Supreme Judicial Council on January 16.

According to Velichkov, the postponement of political negotiations and the delay in handing over the mandate are not accidental. "Perhaps there is a tacit agreement to wait for this date as a pivotal point as to whether there will be regular power, if there is such a deal", he commented.

The expert expressed a categorical position regarding the political future of "Democratic Bulgaria" (DB). "If there is no Sarafov and he is elected, then there will be no government or at least "Democratic Bulgaria" should not participate in it. However, if there is a government and the DB participates in it under Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov, this will be the end of the DB", Velichkov emphasized.
