Georgi Harizanov: The GERB-DB coalition is logical - 1

Political analyst Georgi Harizanov made an in-depth analysis of the ongoing negotiations to form a regular government, highlighting the main challenges facing the political forces.

"The fact that GERB-SDF is negotiating with 'Democratic Bulgaria' and will eventually govern together again cannot be news", said Harizanov, recalling the long-standing cooperation between the two formations. He emphasized the historical ties between the parties, starting from the support of the "Blue Coalition" for Borisov's first term, through the participation of the "Reformist Bloc" in the second government, until the joint work in the "Denkov" cabinet.

According to the analyst, the most serious difficulties will arise in the negotiations with "BSP-United Left". "I really don't see how one can talk about politics with a socialist. It's like talking about science with an astrologer," he was categorical, although he did not rule out the possibility of achieving a majority with the participation of the left.

Regarding the judicial reform, Harizanov took the position that a Supreme Judicial Council with an expired mandate should not elect a new prosecutor general, if ethical norms are followed. He expressed the opinion that GERB-SDF could accept the legislative framework proposed by "Continuing Change-Democratic Bulgaria". At the same time, he noted that the unfilled quota in the Supreme Judicial Council is the result of political inaction.

In the final part of his analysis, Harizanov commented on the role of Delyan Peevski in the political debate. "Obviously, Delyan Peevski's name continues to be a major part of the political platform," the analyst pointed out, adding that the results of the last elections show the effectiveness of such a strategy.
