40 emergency buses have been provided by the Central Bus Station - Sofia for the holidays. The police presence will also be increased in the area, reports the Bulgarian National Radio.
The BDZ is also running additional cars on the busiest routes.
The capital's bus station has created the necessary organization for the holidays. Emergency buses are already running, and such are also included in tomorrow's schedule.
A large part of them are for the winter resorts, explained the director of the Central Bus Station - Sofia Ivan Miroslavov.
"Most of them are for the winter resorts, but in general in all directions in the country, because you know, not everyone wants to go to a resort. Some people want to go to their hometowns. In Sofia, there are people arriving from somewhere and traveling through Sofia to somewhere, so the workload is the same in all directions in the country. The carriers themselves have provided enough emergency buses so that everyone who wants to travel can arrive and go where they planned to spend the holidays, and I think there will be no problem for those who want to travel," he explained.
During the holidays, the police presence in the bus station area will also be increased.
"Security is at a very good level, because we, as a company that has hired an external company to guard the bus station, are making good enough efforts, there is very good coordination between the law enforcement agencies. We are on the territory of the Second Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. A demonstration of force, the presence of people in uniform is constantly noticeable, and this gives more security and peace of mind to people who travel,", Miroslavov added.
For the Christmas and New Year holidays, BDZ has also provided additional travel places. They said that the seats on 69 trains have been increased, providing about 6,000 seats. 18 trains will have one additional sleeping car, or a total of 540 sleeping places on the Sofia - Varna and Sofia - Dobrich routes.
