Tatyana Doncheva: The government is almost ready, but Peevski's influence on it is guaranteed - 1

"The cabinet is ready, the option is almost finalized", said the leader of "Movement 21" Tatyana Doncheva to the Bulgarian National Radio.

"GERB, BSP, ITN – was one of the options. With DB, without DB – that is questionable. We are moving towards a cabinet in which there would formally be ministers from these three formations. The question is where they will get the remaining votes, whether Peevski's formation will leave so that they can formally get the votes, whether they will play some other pantomime, whether they can attract Dogan's MRF to vote and how exactly they plan to explain that they will get Dogan's MRF into the government, while Peevski will have no influence – this is a matter of theatrical mastery, and whoever gets caught, it's up to them," she commented.

According to her, there is no reason for Ahmed Dogan to want behind-the-scenes support for the government:

"He will want public support and status. For him, this is important for the next elections, and for until then.".

As for MRF-New Beginning, she expressed the opinion that the party has secured itself with its own people in the other formations. Peevski says whatever he needs and whatever they tell him, she noted and added:

"His positions in the government and on the government, his influence, are guaranteed. The man has secured himself with people in other political parties. Consider him to be at the negotiating table".

Doncheva does not agree with BSP-United Left being part of such a government:

"At the "Movement 21" coalition council was one of the three formations that voted against and made a statement that it considered it more appropriate for BSP-OL to remain in opposition, to use the time to create structures in all districts and municipalities, to set aside some of the internal problems that exist, because everything is in disarray, and to go to the next elections from this position".

According to her, the understanding of the current leadership is that the BSP cannot be in opposition, but must be in government: "They are pressured by the congress that is coming up. All candidates for presidential posts believe that positioning them in power as possible ministers will give them more chances".

Whoever the new leader is, will have to "serb" the party's debts and its presence in this government, which will reduce electoral opportunities, she warned and said that she does not envy them.

Asked if they would leave the coalition if this formula of government happens, the leader of "Movement 21" replied: "Wait until the time comes to put the cards on the table".

For her, the current acting prosecutor general is still needed by Borisov and Peevski:

"I don't see them having another option. Maybe they will prepare one because there are many vacant seats next to Sarafov for deputies, whom he could pass through the SJC now in silence".

Borisov's moves in connection with the DB's demands are also interesting, Tatyana Doncheva expressed her opinion in the program "Horizon for You" and explained:

"The DB did not ask for seats in the government, but demanded that the laws for the judiciary be adopted, including before the government is voted on. People who know Borisov know that he can step aside the first moment the government is voted on. Until then, the vote is in a committee, not in a plenary hall".

According to her, this cannot happen until January 16. But according to her, the 16th is not a fatal date:

"Whatever the Supreme Judicial Council votes, Rumen Radev has the opportunity to return it and even hold it back a little before returning it. The question is whether these steps are related to the position of the DB in the negotiations or already outside the negotiations".

What will be interesting for her is the distribution of posts and personalities in the possible new cabinet.

"The PP-DB's request for a cordon sanitaire makes sense only if it is implemented with specific content. If the other partners propose individuals who are related to Peevski or dependent on Peevski, they will have to be contested and the personnel composition will ultimately not be voted on or the voting will be delayed".

The leader of "Movement 21" believes that the big problem is the lack of quality:

"There is no quality of the personnel composition, there is no clarity about the programs that need to be done, there is no clarity about the ideas that can be done and I don't see where they will come from. The personnel potential is very scarce".

Tatyana Doncheva also commented on the issue with the Constitutional Court and the expected decision on whether the elections will be partially annulled. According to her, the possible entry of "Velichy" into the National Assembly will change the solitaire for a cabinet.
