A yellow code for heavy snowfall has been announced for ten districts tomorrow, BNR reported, citing the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH).
The warning is in effect for the districts of Haskovo, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Kardzhali, Smolyan, Blagoevgrad, Sofia region, Sofia city, Kyustendil and Pernik.
The new snow cover is expected to reach between 10 and 20 cm.
There are conditions for blizzards and drifts in the mountains. The danger of avalanches remains, the NIMH warns.
The cold snap will continue and temperatures between -1 and 4 degrees Celsius are expected on Sunday. In Sofia - about 1 degree, 2 in Plovdiv and 4 degrees in Varna.
At night, the synoptic situation in the country will become more complicated. There will be snowfall in Southern Bulgaria, the Fore-Balkans and the Ludogorie region. The amounts will be significant in South-Western Bulgaria and the southern slopes of the Rhodope Mountains and a new snow cover will form, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology announced earlier today.
