None of the signals that are currently being broadcast can be considered sufficiently credible. Either as signs in the direction of not creating or creating a government. We believe that at the moment everyone is playing a positional game that should broadcast the message to the voters, namely - that everyone wants to have a government. At the moment everyone is trying to give a signal to the voters, preparing for an election campaign in which they can play with good cards. Because I saw that the candidates are relatively young, typical representatives of GERB in three main ministries, which is a good starting position with messages to the solid voters of this party - for mobilization, identity. This was stated by Professor Antoaneta Hristova for Radio Plovdiv.
The political psychologist emphasized that beyond these messages, there may be no intention at all to form a government. According to Professor Hristova, everything will depend on what happens on January 16 and whether Borislav Sarafov will be elected as Prosecutor General.
„It will unlock the possibility for Borisov to be absolutely free from any compromises to form a government, if Mr. Sarafov is elected legitimately. If things go wrong, and in the coming days there is a return of the election by Radev or a quick adoption of this bill to stop the election of Sarafov, and some rearrangement is necessary, such a hypothesis for the development of the situation would lead to extreme uncertainty for the politicians in the assembly“, said Professor Antoaneta Hristova.
According to her, if such a situation comes to pass, there are two options - a possible cabinet, which will be extremely short-lived, only within about 2 months, until the budget for this year is adopted, and the other option is to go directly to elections.
“Everything is still theater, it is subordinated to political PR, not to political meaning. Here we have a complete replacement of political meaning with PR“, Professor Hristova was categorical.
She believes that GERB, BSP and ITN have no interest in entering a coalition, and such a formula, which would lead to a government, would be an extremely wrong move, given the lack of a goal and unified policies.
