The majority in the Sofia Municipal Council (SOC) says “we do not want transparency and we do not want progress for Sofia residents”, wrote the mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev on his Facebook profile after the first meeting of the councilors for 2025.
Terziev defined as “pulling the handbrake of Sofia“ the reduction of night transport lines from four to two, and the rest - operating only on weekends, as well as the rejection of the proposal in the Sofia Municipality to create a special unit to be responsible for the engineering facilities in the city, which are over 400. According to Vasil Terziev, among the useful decisions adopted at the Sofia Municipal Council meeting are the projects under the “Culture” program worth nearly 1,500,000 leva, the program “Calendar of Cultural Events of Sofia Municipality“, the creation of a crisis center for victims of domestic violence, the updating of ticket prices for the Sofia Zoo and the introduction of a declaration for determining the household waste fee.
Terziev described the appointment of a new member of "Sofinvest" as a chance for the company to restore its license, because the lack of one was the reason dozens of construction sites in Sofia were blocked.
