Valentin Tonchev, DPS-DPS: No one is entering this coalition with great enthusiasm. We also have our concerns - 1

It's been three days since there has been a regular government - although the coalition is three-way, the majority in parliament is four-way. In the program “This Saturday and Sunday“ on bTV, a representative of the fourth parliamentary group, which does not participate directly in the government - Valentin Tonchev from DPS-DPS, spoke.

“A good start was made. Let's be realistic - no one is entering this coalition with great enthusiasm and we see it in the behavior of all political parties. We also have our reservations and concerns“, he said and called for focusing on the real picture.

“This situation of prolonged elections has only strengthened the influence of the person Peevski in state institutions, in the judiciary, in all these repressive instruments of the state. And now we are called upon to try both to form a government and, as a guarantor of the MRF-DPS, supporting the sanitary cordon, to start little by little to shake the state from these influences and backstage“, he added.
And he explained that although texts that mention Delyan Peevski and “New Beginning“ have been dropped from the coalition agreement, the MRF-DPS rely on compliance with the priorities and legislative measures set out in the declaration.
Tonchev specified that the MRF-DPS will seek support in this direction.

„We cannot be a fig leaf for Delyan Peevski's influence in the executive branch and in the state, if the other parties also do not want to distinguish Peevski“, he said and thanked GERB leader Boyko Borisov for having talked to DPS-DPS, and not with „DPS-New Beginning“.

When asked what the party's red lines would be in a possible coalition council, he was categorical:
„We have serious reservations about Minister Ilkov and I think that this should be the attitude of the other two parties - BSP and ITN, because they also filed complaints with the Constitutional Court. The very fact that so many complaints are being filed there for the first time is a clear certificate that the elections were flawed and that the Ministry of Interior did not do its job,“ he said.

He added that he has reservations about many of the people who have been proposed as ministers, deputy ministers and regional governors, but he is counting on the start of the work of the Joint Governance Council.

And in case of disagreement with any decision of the coalition, the MRF-DPS are ready to withdraw from the agreement and go to new elections:

“If we see that Delyan Peevski is peering over the shoulder of some minister, at some appointment - then we have no place in this joint coalition for governing the state“.
